CANDIDATE PROFILES FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

The Board proposes to increase the size of the Board to a maximum of 9 directors. If accepted by the membership, there will be up to 5 seats available for election.

RETURNING CANDIDATES:

Barry Green (Board Chair)

Barry is a retired Electrical Engineer. He worked for over 40 years in the electric utility industry with Ontario Hydro, Ontario Power Generation and in private consulting, working primarily in Power Systems Operations and Planning, Environmental Affairs and Regulatory Affairs. In his professional career, Barry participated actively as OPG’s representative on various committees of the Ontario Independent Electricity System Operator, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation and the North American Energy Standards Board. Barry has a BASc and M.Eng. from the University of Toronto and, prior to retirement, was registered as a Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario.

Chris Benedetti


Chris is a Managing Partner with Sussex Strategy Group. With experience in both federal and provincial governments, Mr. Benedetti provides an in-depth insight and expertise into various planning, policy, procurement and political processes, particularly in the energy and environmental sectors. Chris serves as a Board Director of APPrO, the Empire Club of Canada, and Outward Bound Canada. He is a member of the Energy Policy Council of the C.D. Howe Institute. He also previously served as Chair of the Recycling Council of Ontario, Director of the Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy, President of the Public Affairs Association of Canada, and Senior Advisor to the Canada-Europe Roundtable for Business. He holds a BA in political science and law from Carleton University, and an MA in political science from McMaster University and the University of Bath, England.

Newton Chan

Newton Chan Headshot

Newton is a technology executive with a skillset in strategic planning, program management, P&L management, and business development. He has spent over 11 years consulting Fortune 500 companies and public sector agencies on large-scale technology implementations.
Newton has an MBA from the Rotman School of Management and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He is passionate about solving the climate crisis and lends his business expertise to non-profit environmental organizations.

Are you interested in running for the ZooShare board?  You can still put your name forward at the Annual General Meeting during “Nominations from the Floor”, at which point you can share your biography and LinkedIn profile or resume in the meeting chat box.
